Are Your Listings Money Worthy?

Listings are like meals; they need to taste good, but also look good. Presentation is key.

Slow sales happen to every reseller no matter the size or experience, but sometimes slow sales can be a result of poor listings.
Low-Ball-Me Listings
"More than half of the closets I peek into have 'low-ball-me' listings."
Okay, I have something to admit. Sometimes when resellers share on social media that they're only receiving low-ball offers, I take a peek at their closet-- for research purposes. More than half of the closets I peek into have "low-ball-me" listings.
What the heck do I mean by that?
Allow me first to be blunt: I mean they're sloppy.
Now allow me to be diplomatic: I mean they lack presentational effort.
This can manifest itself in a variety of ways, but the most common are wrinkly items and poor lighting. The one that drives me most insane? Uneven clothes on a hanger. For the love of all that is holy, STRAIGHTEN THE TOP BEFORE YOU TAKE A PHOTO!
Whoa, sorry about that, been holding that in for a while now.
The Label Isn't Enough
Another common quandary amongst resellers is "Why isn't anyone liking/buying this (insert designer name here) piece?"
It's probably because it's priced too high, but that's another blog post.
The name isn't enough to sell an item. Who wants to pay for Chanel if it looks like Target? I say, when you acquire a designer piece, treat it as such. Additionally, since the goal of reselling is to sell a used item for its highest value, presenting the item in its highest-value state will increase eyes, likes, and buys.
Reevaluate Your Listings
“Look at your LISTING, not the item.”
If an item has been sitting or not getting the attention you anticipated, try to evaluate it with fresh eyes. Look at your LISTING, not the item.
And of course, if you're still stuck, you can schedule a Poshmark (or Mercari) Consultation with me. It's a 30 minute video call where we discuss areas of improvements for your Closet/Shop. To find out more click here
Slow Sales Call for Slowing Down
When sales are slow, take some time to show your stale listings a little TLC. Maybe they need a hot new cover photo or a catchier title. Sometimes it's a major but simple fix, like an incorrect category or size.
Either way, show some love to that listing you once were so excited about and watch it come back to life.
